La Maison du Blé

La Maison du Blé was a traditional Vendéen farmhouse,  and has now been converted to high quality family holiday accommodation with all modern conveniences. It is located 4 kilometres from Les Alouettes in a neighbouring village. The property originally dates from around 1800, but has been extensively rebuilt over the years.

The property accommodates 11 adults / children plus up to three infants in comfort. Care has been taken to ensure that the sleeping and living areas are clearly delineated, and that the occupancy has not been stretched. This means no bunk beds or sofa beds in La Maison, and proper cots (not travel cots) are provided. For smaller parties (up to six people) substantial discounts are available in Low and Mid season. Accommodation for smaller parties will be in three bedrooms, rather than in the usual five, though the downstairs area will be available in full as will all outside facilities, including the pool between the end of April and early October.

The kitchen at La Maison du Blé is fully equipped to allow you to take full advantage of the fantastic local produce. Equipment includes:

• Two gas hobs
• Two ovens (one gas, one electric fan)
• Microwave
• Dishwasher & washing machine
• Large fridge freezer
• Masses of pans!

Downstairs, the property consists of:

• Kitchen, equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge / freezer and microwave

• Dining room, with table seating up to twelve

• Family room, with TV / Video, CD player, DVD player, and plenty of toys and games. The property is equiped with a satelite receiver for BBC (including the all important Ceebeebies and CBBC channels!), ITV and other English language services.

• Sitting room

• Family bathroom, with separate WC

The upstairs has extended into a neighbouring barn and is divided into two distinct areas that can allow two families holidaying together a measure of privacy. In the original part of the house, there are  three bedrooms - a double, twin and triple - plus a newly fitted bathroom. In the extended area there are two further bedrooms, a twin and a double. The double has an en-suite shower room.

Outside, there is a seating / eating area with barbeque as well as a  play area and plenty of space for running around and shouting, an activity that children may also enjoy!  La Maison du Blé also benefits from a very secluded totally private garden, accessable from both the kitchen and dining room doors.  A perfect place to catch the last rays of the sun in the evening with a cold glass of something nice.

La Maison is set in mature gardens surrounded by farmland on the edge of the village of Mouzeuil St Martin. There is a restaurant / bar, general store and an excellent bakery within walking distance, and the village is mid way between the towns of Fontenay le Comte and Luçon with their associated shopping and entertainment facilities.

Centrally heated and with the additional benefit of an open fire (we provide logs for rentals October to April), La Maison is eminently suitable for Autumn and Winter lets, as well as the more usual summer season, and provides an interesting alternative venue for Christmas & New Year.  Note that lets shorter than a week (long weekends) and flexible changeover days are possible in Autumn / Winter / Spring. High chairs, linen, towels (bath and beach) are provided, as is mid-stay cleaning for parties staying longer than one week. All utilities (including logs in the period October to April) are included. During the Winter months, clothes drying facilities will  available. Pre-prepared meals can be provided, and babysitting services can be arranged.
